The Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club
The country’s largest ladies only shooting club,
specialising in introducing ladies to the sport,
as well as fabulous post-shoot tea and cake
and wonderful events for women interested in shooting
Milborrow Chimney Sweeps
By Royal Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen
and His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.
Need I say more.
Park Lodge Shooting School
The ground that first taught me to shoot.
Well worth a nosey around, not to mention a shoot
if you fancy a challenge off one of the high towers.
If it’s an instructor you’re after, ask for Andrew Watson.
William Powell Ltd
My first proper employer, and more importantly makers of some
rather lovely guns, and retailers of shooting accessories,
country clothing and homeware.
A fun, friendly and comprehensive online resource for beginner and experienced
Lady Guns, with information about the Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club
which hosts days of girls-only shooting with afternoon tea.
The British Larder
The website from where I borrowed the chocolate and beetroot cake recipe,
which I tweaked before baking, mainly due to store-cupboard shortages.
William Powell Cartridges
The cartridge-selling branch of William Powell, with a huge range of
cartridges available – and if they don’t have what you’re after in stock,
they can often get them in for you within a fortnight.
William Powell Sporting
A sporting agency run by the boys downstairs in the William Powell
offices. They organise and host an array of game shoots up and down
the country, seem to work 28 hours a day 8 days a week, and are always
“willing to go the extra mile” (quote from a friend).
